Marco (Ph.D.) is researcher of International Law at the National Research Council (CNR) since 2011 where he is PI of the research project on Corporate Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence and the promotion of the Corporate Responsibility (CO.RE.).
His scientific experience focuses in general on the international system of protection of human rights; specific main areas of expertise include the impact of business activities on human rights; business ethics and the protection of non-economic values of supply chains. Other research areas include the protection of the environment, the rights of vulnerable categories (migrants, disabled persons, elderly persons, etc.), and the impact on human rights stemming from the development of Artificial Intelligence technologies.
Marco performs his research activities within national and international research projects. He has developed solid scientific relationships with Academies and other public and private institutions. Former legal officer at the European Court of Human Rights, he is member of the ESIL Interest Group on International Business and Human Rights and of the Global Business and Human Rights Scholars Association, as well.
Marco has an extensive experience of evaluation tools and techniques of public and private policies in respect to human rights. He has served as expert for national and international research institutions (REA-H2020, COST, EC DG Justice, MIUR-VQR). Chief of the editorial committee of the peer-reviewed Journal "Diritti umani e diritto internazionale", he performs also peer review activities in national and international legal journals.
Co-Director of the "Business and Human Rights" Summer School - co-organized by HRIC with CNR, University of Milan and Wageningen University - Marco is author of several papers, comments, reports and other scientific documents and has given lectures at symposia and seminars.
In 2002, he has been honoured with the Roberto Marrama Prize “In search of talents”, annually awarded in order to prize young ideas’ entrepreneurs of Southern Italy.
